About Me · Blogging

Welcome, to SeekEachLight.

I’ve been told that the secret to writing a successful blog is letting go of one’s innate fear of failure and never losing sight of why one began said blog in the first place.

One of my biggest fears is failure so this shall be a useful exercise in conquering my inner demons and facing off with the dragons that randomly pop up in my life just when I’m about to triumphantly enter a congratulatory castle.  That fear is what motivates me to never admit defeat because I believe that something worth having is worth fighting for – no matter what.  I think that failure is terrifying because it’s an unknown quantity; no one can know how it will impact their perfectly orchestrated symphony of life until the exact moment when that off pitch note is added to the mix.

So, why am I writing this blog?

Fear is not a reason to avoid opportunity. I have learned that a failure is actually a success, simply disguised in less attractive and gritty package; in its essence it’s a form of tough love.

Love.  In a word that’s why I write.  Writing is my passion and each piece I produce contains a part of me – I love each and every piece I produce.  If it’s not perfect then it’s realistic, because I am certainly not perfect.  However, I do entertain and subscribe to the concept of there being a perfect form of imperfection, but that’s for another day.

I want to reach more people within the online community because, although I write for several blogs I have nothing that belongs solely to me.  Yes, my other content is original but having my own personal blog will allow me to develop my writing ability without impacting any other companies or publications.

This brings me to the What? part of this introductory post, specifically, what will I be posting?

I will post about me, my life, my experiences, my successes and my failures.  This will not be a diary of my life – I prefer to think of blogging as a way to capture snapshots of time.  I will talk about being a Humanities student and the struggles Liberal Arts students face.  I will discuss Ottawa, the merits of living in the capital and my travels.  I’ll catalogue the time I spend at my new job and the adventures I hope to partake in this summer.  My posts will be an open and candid look at my life as I see it.

I welcome comments and critiques on my pieces. Feel free to tweet me at https://twitter.com/SeekEachLight .

Thank you for reading; Cheers.

  1. I think failure is really much more interesting than success – not easier or more enjoyable – just interesting. When I look back on the events of my life that would be considered ‘failures’ they were really a diverging path that took me down a road I never thought I would walk down … but it was always an interesting and enlightening adventure.

I look forward to following your blog and watching you slay your dragons.
